We enjoyed the action, suspense and story of Hunter Killer.  Perfect pacing, great acting, awesome underwater visuals and killer submarine action.

Lessons Learned from Hunter Killer

Always take the shot when you have it.

  • Don’t wait!  Your goal is to win, so when you have the shot, take it.

Dusty out hunting with the boys

Start off on the right foot with your new boss. Be the can-do, will-do, go-to guy for your boss.

  • We hated how Negative Nancy XO Edwards (Carter McIntyre) kicked it off with his Captain Joe Glass (Gerard Butler) with “It’s going to be impossible to find the men.”

Never join the Navy or you will be put into a large tin can and never see the sun.

  • Not a fan of the close-quarters, no-sun, stinky-men inherent in submarine life.

Cooler heads prevail so try to keep your head about you and look at the situation objectively.

  • Jayne Norquist (Linda Cardellini) kept a cool head, saw the situation for what it was and made some great decisions and points in the meeting and with Common’s character of RA Fisk. Also, Gary Oldman’s character of Donnegan was already on edge from his earlier meeting with those other military guys about how things were heating up with Russia.

Start a YouTube channel for your protection.

  • YouTube is great for going LIVE when you’re being chased by Jason Vorhees!

Loyalty… it’s fantastic!

  • Yeppers, Captain Andropov (Michael Nyqvist) is a great commanding officer.  His men disobeyed a direct order from their current captain to not fire on the sub. If you’re loyal to your men, train them well and support them in their job, they’ll be indebted to you.

Man, critics were at it again with this one: 36% for those fools and 84% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.  Go, audience!

Bad Times at the El Royale Spoiler Review and Lessons Learned

Bad Times at the El Royale was an enthralling movie from moment one.  With incredible performances by Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Chris Hemsworth and the rest of the cast, it’s a can’t miss movie.  But, even for how good it was, we wouldn’t be surprised if we never watch it again.

Lessons Learned from Bad Times at the El Royale

Once you start down the wrong path, it’s tough to turn it around.

  • Miles (Lewis Pullman) doing bad things at the hotel; Rose (Cailee Spaeny) falling under a cult leader’s spell, killing, then not even caring when her sister dies.

Stand for something or you will fall for anything. Read your bible and never join a cult.

  • Rose was in a bad way and susceptible to Billy Lee’s temptations (Chris Hemsworth).  What a terrible situation to be in.

It’s never too late to change your ways.

  • Sure, maybe you can’t make it up to those you’ve wronged or get forgiveness from them, but you can do right from this point forward (even if you’re on your way to death’s door).

Always look for wires and behind mirrors in every hotel and airbnb room.

  • Yep, good advice fo’sho.

We always revert back to our level of training in times of stress.

  • Miles picked up the rifle in a stressful moment and got right back to killing.

Don’t assume someone is incapacitated. Make sure they are tied up.

  • Yeah, Emily (Dakota Johnson) totally screwed up by allowing Rose to be free while she investigated the corridor.

Finally!  It seems like forever since we’ve seen a movie with audience and critics simpatico.  Audience at 76% and critics at 72% on Rotten Tomatoes works for us.
